Just gonna throw this out for some fun. In the comments for the last post, Bob suggested we start calling David West "The Finisher." I'm not entirely sold on that idea, but dude definitely needs a nickname.
Any more suggestions?

How about THE STATEMENT... considering The Answer and The Truth were already taken. Perhaps THE REBUTTAL, or THE ARGUMENT; just throwing it out there.

Dude, you need a poll. I like the Finisher. And since our site arbitrarily makes up nicknames for people, we're all about it.

A poll would be nice, be we need more suggestions first. "The Statement" could work. I'm trying to think of something that goes with everyone sleeping on him. Stealth? Mr. Shush?

If anything, and there wasn't a tour already named that, he should be called "And One". I mean, he shouts it five or six times a game as he attacks the basket. I'm also leaning towards calling him 'fluffy' in reference to his jumper. Since he quietly does the heavily lifting . . . Workhorse? Clydesdale? Mule? Yeah, I'm not good at this.

I'll try get into the locker room in the near future and present a list of these nicknames to West, see what he likes himself. Methinks Fluffy won't be high on his list. Keep em coming, folks.

It's okay. I'm certain David West will pick it out of the list. I mean, who doesn't want to be called fluffy? You could even make Harry Potter references to that big three-headed dog. He was named that too!

I don't think David would like being called David "Fluffy" West (Personally, I think it sounds cool). How about "Whirpool West"? Due to all of his fancy spin hooks and inside moves?

ryan youre officially fired from voting due to your fluffy harry potter reference, better luck next time. so far the only one thats tickled my taint is big easy d weezy(it sorta plays off drew brees' big breesy but i can handle that). i kinda like the finisher but the who or and 1 is also good. i understand his nickname from college was dx and im just now realizing he shouts and 1 all the time b/c hes sponsored by them. i think his teammates would provide the best ideas though.

Yeah, good point; the other players would probably have some good ideas. Is he really sponsored by And 1 though? I didn't think he had a shoe contract.

Another great one: David 'The Shoehorn' West Cuz if they are having problem getting your shoes on you can always use a shoehorn to help...just like West helps the Hornets when they can't get the 3s. I like it. So does Ryan...he just doesn't know it yet. And always and forever 'Fluffy'.

How about RAWHIDE or The Frontiersman? I will even give you my all time favorite, THE BEEKEEPER! Maybe the Beekeeper is more fitting for Byron Scott...So if the beekeeper goes to Byron, Honeycomb has to go to West...David Honeycomb West! Hell Yeah!

I agree, Big Easy D-Weezy is the best right now. But Arod, *THE BEEKEEPER* does belongs to Byron. I also refer *THE BEEKEEPER* to my self on Xbox Live while playing NBA 2k8. Oh yeah :)

The good or bad thingdepending on your sensibility about "the who" or simply "who" is that it makes for some really easy puns and headlines. "Who Date" "Who is next" "Who cares" The crowd already screams whooo. "Who? David West. Who? David West" Back then they didn't want me, now I'm hot they all on me. I am a big fan.

Why not just call him "The Big Easy"?- it fits, and it ties him to Nawlins. No trade talks- he can never leave because he IS "The Big Easy" in the Big Easy.

How about "WD-30", like WD-40. W for West, D for David, 30 for his jersey number... and just like WD-40 he can penetrate, prevent offensive "rust", keep the offensive gears flowing and so on... CP3 and WD-30! Go Hornets!
