Well, we got it done.
That was about as frustrating a game as I've seen this season, but that trusty Serbian came through again with a massive triple at the death. I can't even remember what Peja Stojakovic missing a three looks like.

Notes and such...
- Final score was 111-107. Linkage: box | recap | standings
- Peja was the hero (again), but I gotta give player of the game to Tyson Chandler in this one. He finished with 15 points and 16 rebounds, but it was his great help defense and nine billion bone-crushing picks that really made the difference. Late in the third, I counted him setting four separate screens on one offensive trip, all solid, and it was another great pick by Chandler that freed Peja for that late three. Not content with that, Tyson got a massive hand all up in Michael Redd's face to ensure the Bucks couldn't steal it at the buzzer. And did I hear he had a finger pop out during the game? Nice work, big man.
- That was a great play to get Peja the three. Tyson's pick was only part of it. Excellent execution and misdirection. Polite clap for Byron.
- We seemed to be lacking focus in this one, at least until the final minute. I can't remember the last time Peja was called for a technical. Chris Paul got one too, losing his cool and faking a pass at the ref after a non-call. Stupid stuff.
- The Bucks were just on fire tonight though. It was almost like the Warriors game two weeks ago, except G-State never cooled off and the Bucks did, missing jumpers and free throws down the stretch. I thought Rasual Butler did about as good a defensive job as he could on Michael Redd, but that dude was just tossing stuff up with that crazy high release and finding the net every time. He would finish with 30 points. Redd got plenty of help, too, with five other Bucks scoring in double figures.
- Chris Paul was apparently feeling ill for this one, a touch of the flu or something. He finished with 21 points, 10 assists and 3 steals anyway. One speed.
- Meanwhile, David West put up 22 points and 8 rebounds. I thought he did a better job of passing out of the double teams tonight, and although I wasn't watching him very closely on D, methinks he actually played some solid help in this one.
- Best get back to Peja though. 19 points on 7-of-11 shooting. He had a tough job trying to get free against Desmond Mason in the first half, but seemed to figure it out thereafter, scoring 14 points beyond the break. He has now scored at least 19 points in nine of the past ten games, earning that paycheck and then some.
- Has anybody seen Melvin Ely? Hilton Armstrong is getting all the reserve pivot minutes lately. The kid did a nice job in that role tonight, coming up with a couple big plays on both ends. He kept the clumsiness to a minimum.
- Gil McGregor was pulling puns out of every orifice tonight. They were Bucking ridiculous. (See what I did there?)
- Crazy finishes to the first two quarters, with Jannero Pargo breaking the land speed record to drop a funky runner at the end of one, and Bobby Jackson banking in that three before the half. Bojangles finished with 11 points in the game, Pargo 7. The Bucks reserves won the scoring battle however, 28-24.
- As mentioned, Rasual played Michael Redd tough on the defensive end, but he also came through with a decent offensive showing. He shot 4-of-6 from the field for 10 points, showing some versatility in his scoring. I think Peterson going down for these few games will probably help us in the long run with Rasual gaining some confidence from the increased PT.
So these past two games won't go down as the best back-to-back of the season, but we ride into the All-Star break on a four-game win streak and twenty-one games above .500. Can't complain about that.
I'll try get to a lot of the All-Star festivities this weekend and let you know how it goes. Also, keep an eye on Jim Eichenhofer's blog at the Official for some quality updates over the next few days.

And the Warriors hold on to beat Phoenix so we're all alone atop the West. The Mavs are at Phoenix tomorrow though, so the Suns will have a chance to make up that half game before the break.

Hey Ron I hope the final score wasn't 11-107, that would have been pretty embarassing. Anyway, with Kobe out I think I won't win the CP3 all-star contest, as I gave him modest numbers for the game.

I double-checked Greg, and it seems the score wasn't 11-107 after all. Thanks for keeping me in check ;)

can anyone tell me what peja did to get a technical? on hr.com - i read somethng about Redd holding his arm and a no call. did peja argue with a ref about a no call or did he react to Redd holding on to him? i think we rank up their with the celtics and pistons for most technicals for a single team. i beat toronto is dead last!

just to add, i'm counting on both ryan and ronny to have some stuff on the all star game and festivities. i don't know if ryan lives in the great city of new orleans - where i hope to visit- and stock reggie bush, chris paul, angelina jolie and brad pitt, and not in that order - but ron does!...so i hope to hear all the gossip and tidbits, about celebrities, athletes and those who go to these games to bag someone rich by trapping them and getting pregnant. secret rendezvous, guys cheating on their wives with fellow athletes...i lookin at you Dwayne Wade..just kidding! be ready for anything Ron!

also, i was in school, so i didn't get to see the game, but what did cp do to the ref? fake a pass...like you mean, when you joke with your friends or siblings and pretend to throw something at them...and they duck and you laugh at their expense? if so, that is not only funny, but slightly crazy. thats a ron artest, rasheed wallace move right there. boy needs to cool it. seriously. i love him, passion for the game is great, until you are put into the category of whiny players who get a lot of techs like kobe and sheed. i want him to be vocal, but to also know when to cool it. cuz that was a close game !

I'll try my best to get some All-Star stories for you, sparks, but I'm struggling with a throat infection right now. If not for that I probably would have gone to the airport last night to welcome the team home. Tonight, there's the radio show at Gordon Biersch (with special guest Jeff Bower I believe) and a Dwyane Wade-hosted late-night "breakfast" at the casino that I was hoping to get to, but I don't know if I can with this damn sickness. That's what I get for abandoning my immune system for Mardi Gras.

myabe thats why everyone is sick on our roster...mardi gras...i bet some of them went without the knowledge of the team! lol. probably not. i hope you feel better ron. are you at work or at home? i hope at home getting better! no need to go to work if what you have gets worse or if it can spread. sounds kinda serious! can someone answer my cp question and peja question about the technicals last game? also was mo at the game on the sidelines? if so, was it a great suit or all girly like dwayne's stuff - lol, i think i kinda hate dwayne...naw. just hate it when players who have money don't pull out a snazzy suit! apparently KG doesn't have a blazer...yeah right KG! its probably cuz he'll go crazy and strain a quad on the bench after his teammates mob him when he eventually tries to get into the game with street clothes! psycho! lol!

I'm at work. Might as well be sick and earning some money than be sick and going broke. Peja got his tech last night for barking at the ref after that no-call. I'm not sure he got fouled all that much. Chris also got frustrated after he thought he was fouled, and acted like he was gonna throw the ball at the ref. He knew it was a dumb move as soon as he did it, and looked pretty down on himself on the bench at the start of the fourth. I can't recall seeing Mo-Pete on the bench, but I presume he was there.

The Hornets are 2-0 since I got my league pass here. Austin will never be the same. The Milwaukee announcers were very complimentary of the Hornets, calling Byron Scott a "genius" throughout most of the game.

Those announcers weren't all that bad last night, but I can't see how they can even dare compare Mo Williams to Chris Paul. They said they were evenly matched up. You wish! Also, When Peja got his technical, he was fouled. It wasn't really on the steal attempt but he was being held. The Buck's announcers replayed it and even they admitted to Peja being held. He was also being pushed back with two hands when you're only allowed to have one. This is also Peja's second tech of the season that I remember. I'm not surprised if that's more than he's had through all of his Sac Town years.

roland - i remember you posting a great and impromative post about someone you know with connections to the hornets - and that both ben gordon and mike miller were coveted by the horntes. as a grizzlies fan, would you be okay with miller leaving, and do you think he will? i think a lot of teams would love to have him that need some scoring, a perimeter threat that can shoot 3s at a high clip like miami.. i'm sure the cavs want him, but they are playing a lot of guys a lot of money. i would want him over ben, because i don't like ben's attitude, he's kinda stupid in the head for giving up that contract offer - since well, he isn't even the best player on that team...and he's well, short! miller has size, great rebounding ability, shoots a great percentage, has some athleticsm but what do you think about his defense? is he a chucker or will he know that there are better players around him like chris, david and peja. and i think he is a better slasher than ben because i see him finish layups more than ben can. so am i right about his slashing ability? thanks a bunch if you take the time to answer my questions! i'm sure you'll enjoy the hornets while waiting for the grizzlies to get up again!

The All-Star game is just fun and games. It doesn't really matter. I'd much rather see the Hornets win those three games afterwards, because those are tough ones. Dallas, Houston and San Antonio. If we won those three on the trot it would be an insane confidence booster for this team.

as a grizz fan I want the girizz FO to do what the hornets did and blow up the team, keep the younf prospects and start over. i might have beent he only on but i like the gasol trade. All i wanted for Gasol was cap space and draft picks and thts what we got. it gives us flexbility for the future. Dont forget that the hornets traded baron davis for nothing and look at where that has gotten them now. ----

The grizz have some great young peices in Gay, Conley and Crittenton. I want to build around those 3 and the draft picks we get this year. IMO a team of a Beasley, Gay, Conely, Crittenton and a big name free agent + a few years experience= possible title contender down the road. Therefore, I want them to trade Miller, Cardinal and Darko and try and gather up as much draft picks and cap space as possible.

I was working the Jam Session last night. I didn't get to see much of the game exept for the end. You shoulda heard that place erupt when Peja hit that 3. I was doing my best to watch the game and keep to my volunteer duties. I saw the shot, then subsequently got drilled in the face by a basketball thrown by some 8-year old. It was all worth it tho. I'll do my best to back up Ron on the goings-on, at least at Jam Session. I'll be working from Friday-Sunday. If you're in town, you should make it out, there will be player appearances all throughout the weekend, and its just an all-around fun event to bring the little ones to. Last night was a Hornets night for season ticket holders, and there were Honeybees everywhere. Life is good!

dirk is a better three point shooter than kobe, by far...its just that dirk took out his three point shot out of his game. you barely see him attempt any, while kobe freely chucks it any time and most of the time he tries to get a foul out of it! he has an "unnatural" shot when he takes threes, the way he aims for a foul by flailing his arm around like he got shot. its crazy how he tries to fool refs. i think dirk took that part of his game away so he could focus on his back ot the basket game, but if he's left open, he can still be deadly. at the same time, you don't what your star big man to shoot threes all day.
