Another big game at the Hive tonight. The Houston Rockets roll into town with their oh-look-at-me 10-game game winning streak. Methinks we can take 'em though. Only one of those ten wins came against a team with a winning percentage currently greater than .600.
Picture time...
Stuff to know...
Hornets (W-L): 37-15
Rockets (W-L): 34-20
Game Time: 7:00pm Central.
TV: CST.
Radio: KMEZ 102.9 FM in New Orleans and WIBR 1300-AM in Baton Rouge.
Linkage: Pictures of Wells and James from this morning's media introduction | The Dream Shake | Some live game blog thing over at NOLA.com
I have no idea if Wells and James will be available to play tonight. There's still some papers to be filed or physicals to be passed or whatever. Same deal with Bobby Jackson and the Rockets. Should be a good game either way. If Bojangles does play, let's hope folks have the decency to give him the warm reception he deserves.
Feel free to discuss the game in the comments. The recap might be late tomorrow because, you know, it's Friday night and everything. Some drinks methinks.
[ Update ] Hornets lose big, 80-100.

Bonzi and I graduated from the same HiSchl and college so I have seem him play about 75 games in person......to say I am a BWells fan is an understatement. He has NEVER played with a really good point guard, but now he is with the BEST ONE IN THE WORLD!!!!!!! Just look how CPaul destroyed the oldKID the other night. Bonzi went off for a game high 28in Portland his first game back after he was traded out of there and the first game in Detroit he got 28 also( Detroit drafted Bonzi then traded him to Portland). Hornet fans I am telling you BWELLS can be that missing piece needed to win the title.....Being from Big Ten country I saw MoPet play many games....he is a better outside shooter but, check the stats, Wells is getting twice as many rebounds per minute as MOPET. Bonzi is so strong, really he weighs about 230, and knows how to use that to his advantage.........I look for him to score about 14 a game and get 6.5 rebounds in 31 minutes for the Hornets. Some night soon the defense will be shading towards Chris and Wells will go off for about 34 on somebody. I'm very impressed with the Hornets front line, Tyson and DavidW and the shooter Stoja and now your new 2 or 3 Wells......West and Wells has a nice ring to it don't you think...they played their college ball about 80 miles apart. Do you fans know that Wells averaged 23p 12r against Duncan and the Spurs 2 years ago in the playoffs......HE ACTUALLY GOT 10offensive rebounds in one game and 17 total rebs in another that year.......Wells lead the league for guards in rebounding at 7.8 in 2005........I hope the Hornets continue to shock the NBA world...GO HORNETS..BEAT THE ROCKETS and I hope Bonzi helps get the job done!!!

I think this might be said about all the away team announcers, but these might be the worst announcers I have ever heard.

Did someone above really think that Bonzi will get 31 minutes a night and that he's never played with a PG? What is Mike Bibby? I'd say he's a pretty damn good point guard. What was Damon Stoudamire in Portland? Again, a pretty damn good point guard. Bonzi has been PG flush in his career, not the other way around. He's just been lazy and a malcontent, that's the reason he never became a star.

Has anyone else noticed how we loose big? Usually we win- but when we do lose, we absolutely get the crap kicked out of us. No idea what it means, but I find it a little disturbing.

Lee, I disagree. bonzi has played with talented point guards in the past, just not passing point guards. They're all score-first kind of guys. But now he's with the best passer in the league. CP3!

That's a good point Steve, I can't remember a close loss we've had recently, a few blowouts and embarassments, but no close ones. Hey, off topic, but is anyone else worried about Utah in the Playoffs?

Greg, fuck yes I am. They're gonna be the number 3 seed almost for sure because of their division. And if we're not first in our division, we may likely fall to that sixth seed and face them. Too bad they always blow us out. Its not cool.

I do agree that he is with the best PG in the league, that we can see eye to eye on. But Stoudamireisnot a shoot first guard. Mighty Mouse averaged about 12PPG and 7 APG while they were together in Portland. Bibby falls closer to a shoot first guard, but he runs an offense pretty well. I just could not disagree with this assessment more. Plus, Bonzi in no way needs help to get his shot.He is a great one on one player... when he wants to be. The problem is that he rarely wants to be. VERY rarely wants to be.

I think I've said this before. George Karl once said that every season there are fifteen games that you will lose, just because the other team is on fire - or your team is totally cold. Even the 72-10 Bulls suffered abig blowout - 72-104 to the Knicks. And they were arguably the most talented, and certainly the most focused, of any team ever. It's all about how they respond. If they lay down and die to the Spurs tonight, then we may have a problem.

I'm sticking with the Hornets being 3-0 since I got League Pass because my jerk Rocket friend texted me the results before I got to watch it on my DVR.

About the always losing in blowouts issue... If anything, I think that's a good sign. It means that when a game is close, we pull out the win. That's partly because we have one of the best finishers in the league, who never seems to crack under pressure. It's possible we'll get into a playoff series and get blown out 4 times, but more likely the games will be close, and so the fact that we pull out close games will work in our favor...

In no way is this game one to panic. This was one of the best games my Rockets played all year and one of the worst y'all have played. Y'all will be fine the rest of the way and I fully expect y'all to be the number one seed
