The Hornets will try bounce back from their loss in Boston on Friday when they take on the Raptors in Toronto this evening. The Raps are led by All-Star forward Chris Bosh, who's very excited about playing the basketball...

Raptors (W-L): 37-35

This game is the first back in Toronto for Morris Peterson since he signed with the Hornets last summer. Hopefully he'll shake out of the lengthy slump he's been having and give the Raps fans something to feel conflicted about.
Anyways, feel free to do the commenting thing. I'll be checking in throughout this one.
[UPDATE] Hornets avoid blowing the big lead, beat the Raps 118-111.

go morris! he had a bunch of things i liked about him. nice guy. good interview. played hard. hustle player. but now that chuckfino, i mean, carlos delfino is here, i really appreciate how when pete had a bad night, he'd cool it with the shot attempts. carlos, omg, he has these moves, where he literally has to stop himself from shooting! its so damn funny. you think..."oh wait, don't shoot" and then he does or on the rare occastion, stops himself, right before he might get called for double dribble or a travel. hornet fans, i hope you get to see it tonight. at least mo doesn't force it. i guess pargo is your version of our carlos. lol. have a nice game. hope everyone stays healthy. hope this doesn't become a bosh hate thread like i see you have had for kg if the raptors somehow beat you guys. btw, i doubt we do. lets hope its not a blowout. i'm tired of those kinds of games.

Hee. Tyson can't do math. We're watching the pregame show, and he was just like, "well, we're half a game back from the Spurs, so I guess if we win we'll be half a game ahead."

I'd like to avoid this being a Bosh hate thread as well. I thought the response to KG was a bit over the top.

Ditto. I love Bosh and think he's definitely MVP caliber. Look at how lost the Raps were recently without him. Incidentally, I commented early on the RaptorsHQ blog, and the comments following were kind. Nice people. So with Bosh being an all-star forward, why try and guard David West with Rasho, a perennial disappointment (at least in Minny and San An)? I haven't heard about him since he went north. David already has 10 points with three minutes left in the 1st? Damn! I mean, I can see Rasho might be a little slow to keep up with Tyson, but he seems a better fit there than for David. I guess it's a match-up problem. For whatever reason, I'll take it. Bees up 27-18.

There'll be no Bosh hate from me, and hopefully everyone else can appreciate his game as well. 37-28 after one. We're looking great offensively, let the Raps get a few easy buckets after Tyson went out with two fouls. David West is killing 'em.

oh so you won't hate bosh, but you'll hate on kg a real mvp candidate? i love bosh as a raptor fan, but he's no mvp candiate. not when his team is around .500 all year long. not when he's a barely averge defender. that last thread was a hate fest for kg. not even raptor fans on real gm go that far, and they all hate the celtics. but whatever. david west just torched bosh and rasho. amazing! that guy is a keeper. how come no one knows about him? you guys have a great team btw!

Yeah, I think the KG hate-fest was uncharacteristic of the comments typical to this blog. So though it's not mine, I'm glad you're here with us. No one could stop D-West the first half, but the problem is, no one seemed to be stopping Bosh or Nesterovic either. While I'm glad for the big lead, I'm worried about our defense. At least we have three more rebounds so far.

Yes, some people were hating on KG last game thread, but I never condoned that. I said then and I'll say now that KG is a deserving MVP candidate and I won't be mad if he gets the award. Now, can we please leave the Boston game behind? Hornets were supernatural on offense that first half. 66% from the field? 24 points for West, 11 assists for CP. And Bosh has 19 and 6 for the Raps. Hornets lead it by 11. I thought Toronto were killing us by having Ford and Calderon on the floor at the same time late second quarter. We couldn't stop the penetration and gave up easy buckets. I'm glad our rebounding is better tonight though. 18-15 advantage so far.

Seeing the Mo-Pete love fest has me wondering why he left in the first place...did something funky happen that nobody knows about? Also, seems like teams are stopping our alley-oop lately. That's no fun.

Peja to TC was just plain evil. 101 points in three quarters. Everything is working on offense tonight. If we play any kind of defense in the fourth quarter we'll win easy.

You know, Bosh and Rasho were killing us at halftime. They have what 2, each in the second half? Damn. Nice adjustment.

Man, Jeff Bower would have had no choice but to trade all our reserves if we had lost that one.

The crazy thing is, I was watching the box score the whole way. The back-ups didn't seem to have a problem shooting, as much as it was most fouls and turnovers, and even not a lot of those. Perhaps it was Bonzi hot early and missing late? I'm not sure. All I know is I found myself standing by the end as the Hornets got a last second scare. Damn. At least they looked fantastic for three quarters. And as Gordi said post-game, we learned a lesson to play all 48 minutes without having to register a loss to do so.

i don't see no mopete love fest. more like i just apprecaite him now, after seeing carlos delfino for close to 70 or so games. there is a reason why they call him chuckfino! lol forgetting about boston, wow you guys are amazing. great offensive team when everything is clicking. chris makes his assists look so easy. i know you added bonzi, but your bench still kinda sucks. you could tell, because our bench killed yours in the 4th, and with about 2 minutes ago, the 25 point lead turned into a 10 point lead, and bryon had to put chris paul back in along with david west and peja. the lead went all the way down to either 4 or 6 poitns with a minute left! your bench didn't take the game seriously which is stupid since we are a very deep team. so i see why ppl are dissing your team. the bench needs to step up. you need more than bonzi. however, forget our annoucner, you are a contender! every team has a weakness. pistons have their ego, boston has turnover problems sometimes, suns have turnovers lol, and not playing defense, lakers are made of glass, dallas is soft, utah can't win on the road - they lost to minny today! houston has no post presene without yao, and is also made of glass with yao and tmac. spurs are old and go through offense droughts. both the nuggets and warriors don't pretend to play defense. orlando has trouble with strong backcourts. and if we have to consider the cavs contenders...lol sorry, they aren't. see every team has a weakness. i'm sure you'll guys will figure out how to get through it. i'll be rooting for you guys out west! good luck in the playoffs. lol. oh and i read some of the other comments in other threads. i can tell you guys aren't like that after each game. but again, you hardly lose. take it from a raptor fan. the celtics are the best defensive team in the league for a reason. they blowout teams without even trying some nights. look at miami tonight. it took a while for the pistons to stop the miami heat last game and the heat actually lead at halftime! the c's blew out that same team in the first quarter. they are for real. ask kobe.

While we would've liked to see the bench finish things off tonight, I'm not sure they were that bad. Not a huge amount of turnovers and their shooting percentages were fine (more that they didn't shoot much other than Bonzi, who shot well). I think more likely they just weren't trying too hard after the team scored 101 in 3 quarters. When you do that it really doesn't matter if your bench lets the other team back into the game. With that big a lead, you just put your starters back in and finish off the other team. And we did. I'll take it.

mV obviosuly is new to basketball. did you actually type that it really doesn't matter if your bench lets them other team back in after a big lead, because you can bring back your starters?!! listen to the post press conference with byron. he was pissed that your bench did that saying something like "i need to find the right guys off the bench." chris paul was pissed as well, when he got that alley opp pass to tyson to bring it back to 10 point lead with 50 seconds left, he went back to the bench and slapped his hands to say "finally' he and david were annoyed that they had to get back in. sorry man, every team has a weakness, and your bench is obvisouly on of them. as in they suck. you have bonzi who can score and then who? pargo? that rookie? you really don't have anyone reliable to back up tyson or david. face it. still a great team, but your gm needs to fix that problem in the off season. maybe put mo on the bench and get someone to start at sg next year. something tells me bonzi will lose it any day now!
