Our old friend Baron Davis is back in town with his Golden State Warriors today, and they'll meet our Hornets for an early one at the Arena. It's a nationally televised game, so America will get to see a fine crowd in attendance and hopefully another Hornets victory. A win would of course give us 54 on the season, equaling the franchise record.

Info...
Hornets (W-L): 53-22
Warriors (W-L): 46-30
Game Time: 12:00pm Central.
TV: ABC.
Radio: KMEZ 102.9 FM in New Orleans and WIBR 1300-AM in Baton Rouge.
Linkage: Bulleted, for your pleasure...
- AP game preview
- At the Hive: Refuting Playoff experience
- Golden State of Mind
- ESPN.com: J.A. Adande names the CP to TC connection
- Blog of N.O.: Thinking of a new name for the Hornets
This will not be an easy game, so the Hornets had better bring it a lot better than they did against Miami and New York if they want to come away with a win. G-State already beat us in New Orleans this season, and they're currently battling with Dallas and Denver for two Playoff spots (check the standings). They really need this game.
Gotta get my ass to the Buzz Fest. It's okay to drink at 10am so long as the beer is free.
[UPDATE] Hornets win on national TV, 108-96.

i thought the franchise record for the HORNETS was 55, not 54. do you mean a professional basketball team in the city of new orleans, going back to that ABA team, because the charlotte hornets i'm sure had 55 wins in the mid 90s. whenever teams move, and keep their name, i can't tell what people mean by "franchise" records - do they mean the team in its new city or do they include the team in its original city?

The Franchise is the Hornets, wherever they play.Charlotte Hornets, New Orleans Hornets, OKC Hornets. The Hornets won 54 games in the 1996/97 Season. Greetz from Germany :-)

And i would love to point out the fact that B-Diddy was on fire in the 1st quater then they gave Julian some time on him and he went ice cold, props to the rook for putting their leader in a funk that he never really recovered from

Ha, they called him Jeremy Pargo. Must be getting him mixed up with his brother, even though he's not in the NBA yet. @ sparks: Fab is right. The Hornets "franchise" goes back to 1988, when they came into the NBA as an expansion team. The most wins they've had in a season since then is 54 in 1996/97. Incidentally, they got swept out of the Playoffs in the first round by the Knicks that year.

oh, i guess i mixed it up with ppl writing 55 on other boards, saying we need to get 55 to get passed the record. bench played well today.gsw are so not making the playoffs if they play like this. the mavs won on the road against the suns today! they have a nice schedule with some home games - utah! utah on the road...lol! they also play Seattle! good. if we see denver in the eight spot, we win!! dallas and gsw will be hard. but denver is so undisciplined.

More importantly, the Mavs win pushes the Suns back farther from the Bees. Word.

Whoever we play in the first round, I'm scared right now. I also really don't wanna play Denver in the first round. I'd rather see GS or Dallas. Even though we suck against the Mavs, they're struggling right now.

We seem to be playing pretty awesome team D right now, and Byron has his matchup mojo workin, so I think I'd rather play a running/breakdown team (Denver or GS) than a more disciplined, grindinghalfcourt team (Dallas, the Spurs eventually). That being said, with the MVP being surrounded by solid gold we're gonna tear EVERYONE a new one all the way to the trophy in Boston.
