The Hornets will try jump out to a 2-0 series lead when they host the Mavericks at the New Orleans Arena this evening. Dallas will be out for revenge after Chris Paul punked 'em with 35 points and 10 assists in his Playoff debut on Saturday, leading New Orleans to a 104-92 victory.

Some info before the fit hits the shan...
Game Time: 6:00pm Central.
TV: TNT nationwide.

Make no mistake: this game is massive. Win, and we take a commanding lead in the series with some nice momentum as we head to Dallas. Lose, and we have to face this possibility: the Hornets could drop the next two on the road, meaning by the time the series swings back to New Orleans we could be on the brink of elimination
Gotta love the Playoffs.
Comments welcome as always. I'd especially appreciate if someone could make note of any interesting or controversial commentary from the TNT broadcast. I'll be at the Arena so I'll miss all the TV stuff.
Alright, I'm done. Game 2 is here. Kick ass, Hornets.
[UPDATE] The Hornets dominate, take Game 2, 127-103.

Not watching the game for pathetic reasons, but I note the line-up change for the Mavericks. Bass is getting significant minutes, and veteran Eddie Jones is as well. Be interesting to see how this turns out for the mavericks.

I am in class watching the game on gamecast. Was CPs buzzer beater just like his one in game one?

As they came back from timeout at some point, Barkley referred to himself as Tonto Kowalski, and the production crew even flashed a graphic with this as his name during his next talking point. Not being in on the joke, I did a search and its a good one. Good family stuff right there, EJ even went with it for a bit. There's no way he had any idea. Funny stuff. On another note, check out some of CP3's early playoff company. Wilt, Kareem, some dude named Gary Brokaw (30+ pts for a playoff debut), Big O, Havliceck, Jerry West, Magic, MJ, KJ, Nash (30+ pts and 10+ assists in consecutive playoff games). The kid is a legend in the making. Franchise playoff records set tonight, Points (124), Points in a half (67), FG % (62), 3-pt (10), and individual assists (Paul with 17, previous high was Muggsy with 15). Great game, time to break the losing streak in Dallas.

This is where playoff experience potentially comes in. Can the Hornets win on the road (where the media reminds us we haven't since like, 1999)? Also, do not could the Mavericks out yet. If we always highlight the failures of the Mavericks, I might as well highlight the series the Mavs won against the Rockets in 2005 after being down 2-0 (Rockets forced a game 7, then got blown out). A different Mavericks team, yes, but until the Hornets have won four games, I will never count the Mavericks or any team out. Party pooping, yes, but quite a positively good game. Go celebrate!

Take that Charles Barkely. He said that somebody should have given a really hard foul to Chris Paul in game one to punish West for the "Face-touching" incident. Somebody should kick his ass for saying that. Bitch! Hornets Lead 2-0! & the whole "Trap Chris Paul" game plan just gave him 30+ points and 15+ assists.

@ Mark: I'm waiting for that Rockets-Mavs series to be mentioned on all the Dallas blogs and news sites tomorrow. The Hornets should listen to that story though. This series ain't over 'til it's over.
