Thirteen consecutive losses in Dallas. No wins in the big D since January of 1998.
The Hornets are well aware of those facts as they move to Texas for Game 3 of their Playoff showdown with the Mavericks. New Orleans has dominated the Mavs and built a 2-0 series lead at home, but can they continue the funkiness on the road?

New plan, not going to Gordon Biersch. Oh great, Screamin' A Smith, Jalen Rose and Baron Davis discussing Hornets-Mavs on ESPN. I'd rather listen to my own bowels.

Rough first quarter. Dallas threw all they had at us but we're still just down 5 with CP and West missing some open looks. I'm not too worried except for Tyson and Hilton's fouls. Hilton played pretty good when he came in but got caught for three personals.

I haven't watched many New Orleans games but does Chris Paul always act like a little bitch after he pushes somebody in the back (Dirk) and gets all uppity when a teammate (Jason Terry) gets in his face about it? Can anybody else say "delusions of grandeur?"

@ NJC: That's basketball. Dirk is flopping all over the floor so if you think Paul is the one acting like a bitch, well, maybe you're only seeing what you want to see. I think we're in pretty good shape at the half. Down 7 despite CP and West missing everything. Bench play has been great. Kudos to Pargo, Bonzi, Hilton and JuJu. Looking forward to our big guns getting right in the second half. Nice job by the Mavs so far, but I'm not sure they can keep it up all game.

Not trying to sound biased, but what's with the officiating? Everytime someone lays a hand on a Mavs player, it's a foul. Dirk was draped all over West right under the basket when he tries to get a layup, no call. I broke my remote after that one.

I think the officiating is okay. Some iffy calls both ways. We just need to play smarter and get to spots quicker to avoid the whistles. Some rebounds would be nice.

@NJC - Dirk crashing to the floor after getting a slap on the hand isn't being a bitch?! Paul is playing with heart and is frustrated, hence his 'uppity'. Whereas Dirk hasjust made a career of flopping. Pretty big differece. I'll take Paul's passion over Dirk's acting. I know the Mavs are attacking the rim hard, but 22 fouls to 11?! 31 free throw attempts to 9?! We're getting stiffed. I know we have to expect that and rise above, but it still sucks to watch.

@ saltandcarbon: I caught that flop by Dirk. It was a foul -- West did catch him on the wrist -- but I'm not sure how that put Nowitzki on his ass. Rebounding is killing us the most now. The Mavs are simply more aggressive, and the more aggressive team usually gets the benefit of the doubt on foul calls because the other team gets on their heels and starts reaching and hacking.

Ron, do you still think the officiating is OK? End of the third- We have gotten 11 free throws- Dallas? 32. That's fucking insane.

You're right Ron. It was a legit foul on D weezy.Just got a bit riled by the comparison between CP's fire-in-the-belly and Dallas' kinda cynical style of play. But I guess its also pretty frustrating when the 17 foot assassin left his daggers at home. And we're tossing up big, chippy bricks. And we're getting schooled on how to dribble drive. And we can't seem to get BOTH hands to any rebounds. And Pargo is our big hope. And.......

That was completely unnecessary from Dampier at the end. What an asshole. Anyway, we lost. Recap coming.

Yeah, anyone who accuses CP of flopping should check out that fun moment when West touched Dirk on the WRIST and he fell on his ass with his feet flying in the air. Unbelievable. A tap on the wrist is gonna knock over a 7 foot tall man Right.

I just came home from the actual greatest place on earth (as an aside, do you guys have a skyscraper that has the words "Hornets Win" going up the side of it? Didn't think so...). Good game, bad-ish but reasonably balenced officiating. Does anyone know what really shut down CP (nosebleed seats)? (expect more on Sunday....)

Everyone knows Dirk can't take a jump shot without landing on his ass. It's like second nature. Kinda like those foul line quirks some of them do, only not lol I think Hornets will rebound Sunday, then come home and finish them off.

Obviously, I'm alone here (for a Hornets fan), but I love Dirk. I think he absolutely earned his MVP award last year and continues to be a superstar. Yes, I think his flops have been absolutely ridiculous this series. But overall Dirk has been awesome, and definitely won't be the reason the Mavs lose this series. As to the officiating, I am a huge believer that the officiating has been harsh against the Hornets in several key games this year. However, I've never believed that total fouls alone will tell the story. If one team simply hacks the shit out of the other and the other doesn't do the same, there should be a disparity. That said, I can't say I had a problem with the officiating last night. We just committed a lot of fouls. I think Byron said it best when he said Dallas came out with a game seven mentality and we came out with a game three mentality. So let's hope the Hornets rebound Sunday.
