Should be a great atmosphere at the Hive for this one. It's been pretty loud in there numerous times this season, but I'm betting tonight will take the cake. I can only imagine the boos that will rain down on Jason Kidd when he's introduced. Dude will be wishing he got suspended.
So let's go, Hornets. One more win and we'll get ready for Round 2. Ding ding.
[UPDATE] Hornets survive a late run by the Mavs to win Game 5, 99-94. Second round, here we come. Who do we have to beat next?

only way we win this game tonight is if we do the following: keep dirk in for 40-48 minutes, keep terry on cp for majority of the game, josh howard go back to his game and not take even ONE jumpshot and only drive to the basket, stackhosue stays ON the bench, bass gets good minutes, and kidd gets the best of cp3…..this can all happen! LETS WIN THIS AND BRING IT BACK TO DALLAS! WHOS WITH ME!

LOVE the game Tyson is having. I was here badmouthing his defense and rebounding sunday, so I have to give him props for really stepping up in both areas tonight. I just wish Coach had pulled him after his second foul with 2 minutes left in the half. Lets pour it on these bozos- GO HORNETS!!!!!

CP first half with 8-11-6-2, no TO, 1 foul. What's sad is that this is a rather hackneyed stat line throughout the regular season, and therefore I don't see anything particularly special with it, with consideration of his past performance. Man am I jaded.

Fitting end for this series. CP with a triple dub of 24-15-11. FINALLY, we can say congratulations to our bees against what likely will be the Spurs next round. What a chippy series THAT was!

Thank God, the wake-up-bitch-slap has finally come. Trade Damp, Joint Howard, Suckhouse, and Juwan. Gel the new core together, sign whoever fits. Make Bass a starting center and show him tape of his success in this series till he can't take it anymore. Turn George into a consistant bench player. Unleash the German fire! Too bad Stack didn't foul out sooner... you've gotta admit though, that was one ungodly comeback.... (go Mavs! :) good luck against those damn spurs btw

JUJU! This kid is starting to be worth his weight in gold. Pargo is a monster and starting to make that call about him being the best backup PG in the league look pretty damn solid. CP...damn I wish the MVP votes counted this round. Kobe torched the Nuggets, but CP has downright schooled the Mavs. Tyson - way to go with the D dude! More please. DX brings out the fluffer in me. I mean fluffy. Yeah. And Peja, you'll have those games'when you're the league's hottest shooter. 'S aaiight when you make up for it in boards and hustle. Teeny tiny bit worried about Bonzi's lack of imprint on the first round. Turtle's gotta step it up. But DAMN! Second round, and not looking like slowing down for ANYONE! Geaux Hornets. Oh, and I do hope the Mavs can get it together in the offseason. Dirk and Bass and Terry are too good to be playing for a second-tier team.

Tonight was golden. Scary for a minute at the end but it came out good. Sucks if you were anywhere else in the world for this game besides the Arena. Recap and pizza coming.

Donatello's going to serve that Pizza, right Ron? Pargo's really the unsung hero for this series. Although most NBA fans don't know of DX, we knew he had to be consistent for us to win. But Pargo really came out on top, with his inconsistencies during the regular season. Let's hope everybody reorganizes and steps up some more next round. Only gets harder from here (although I think our confidence level +1, but we'll see)!

I don't follow the NBA at all, because I got burnt out on the predictable style and annoying attitudes years ago. Last week, a buddy of mine told me that Chris Paul was amazing and that I should watch him play. I've watched the entire series and intend to keep doing so. The Hornets are a joy to watch, Chris Paul in particular. This team has singlehandedly restored my faith in pro basketball. I wish them a long and hearty playoff run!

Postgame note: Devean George never has a "contract season" where he plays on fire to get big money. He's way too lazy. Nope. Instead he hits three 3s in the final quarter of the season to make the game close and GMs across the league scratch their heads and wonder if he really is better than they thought. Guess what, he's not! As an ex-Laker fan, I've seen plenty of Devean George. A lot. He is talented physically. He can make the random big play. But more than not he won't. Trust me. And now he's older, so he's even losing his physical advantage. Remember also that good defense is largely effort. Yeah. So if any deluded fans want to make a championship run out of him and Brandon Bass as a 6'8" center, good luck. P.S., ask the Bulls how Ben Wallace worked out at center. In a conference with Yao, Shaq, Duncan, Tyson, Bynum, Camby, Okur, Miller, and Oden, undersized centers are stupid. Fuck, even give me Darko.

Why don't the refs WAKE UP!?!?!!? Chris Paul is a little devil who gets away with whatever he wants on the court. Little punk should not be the "MVP."

Chris Paul did get away with alot in this series, but, he won't in the 2nd round. The Hornets did great, by the way. The fans were awesome, but, I have one problem....Dirk is NOT a flopper. He is a Warrior,(butnot the Golden State kind). He just had crappy players around him (except Bass and Terry). Dirk never had anything but praise when he commented to the local press in regards to the whole Hornets organization and he said numerous times that the Hornets fans were "great". I have to go, now. I need to meet the Mavs plane. I think Dirk may need a hug. :)

A) Chris does not get away with everything. He was hacked all series. That is playoff basketball. He adjusted. He flourished. He is a genuine MVP candidate. Period. B) Dirk is a flopper. That doesn't mean he's not otherwise one of the greatest players in the league. Same with Ginobli. They are two of my favorite players in the league, both warriors, who use every advantage they can discern, including flopping. I don't fault them for this, but I do call them on this. C) If I was the Suns, I'd be really unhappy about the officiating tonight, which really favored the Spurs.

Totally agree with you on the Dirk comment, mW. I still believe Dirk should have been last year's MVP (many people don't) and he is certainly one of the great superstars this game has. His flopping like a beached whale takes nothing away from that, but it means he flops like a whale.

excellent stuff tonight. dwest was en fuego. time to look to game 1 saturday in nola. spurs will be a tough tough out. timmy has won titles with much less around him. pop is one of the best at finding a team's weakness in a series. lucky for us, the bees are rolling right now and not showing too many weaknesses. should be a classic.

mW~ Chris' tenacity does get the better of him sometimes, and while almost all his plays are legitimate, I wouldn't rule out 'dirty'. For instance, he does tend to draw open-court fouls by literally running into traffic (see CP vs. Ginobili and Bass). Plus I don't think B.Bowen was the only one instigating extra contact drawing a suspension. I think good ol' CP snuck a flailing arm, which I felt was pretty evident. But as much as I hate it, playing 'dirty' is a great asset to one's arsenal in the league. If you can get away with murder, then you've got an obvious advantage most players and fans will bitch and whine to no avail. Successful dirty players include B.Bowen, Ginobili, and in my opinion, Michael Finley (sorry for all the references to Spurs, but they're the ones I'm most familiar with). Same goes with flopping. Dirk does flop, but MANY players in the league flop, especially post-players. Flopping gets calls, and much like being 'dirty', if you can get away with it, you have an advantage. Hell, Vlade Divac made a career out of it. Thankfully, Dirk does have skillz (with a 'z'), so at least he has that going for him. Vlade? Not so much.
