Just a quick post so everyone has a heads up about the Las Vegas Summer League, which starts today. Julian Wright and Hilton Armstrong are on the Hornets squad, along with Adam Haluska and a bunch of guys I've never heard of. Oh, and as you'd expect, rookie Darrell Arthur isn't on the team because we traded him for all that free agency splash cash.
Anyways, you can find out all about the Hornets roster for this thing over at the Big Easy Buzz Blog.
Our guys tip off today against zee Grizzlies. Funnily enough, that same Darrell Arthur dude will be playing for them, because Memphis is where he ended up after being traded eleventy-billion times on draft night. Poor chap.
The Hornets will play six games in Vegas. You can find the full schedule over at NBA.com. Oh, and all the games will be broadcast live online, which is cool and technological and stuff.
Let's all hope this season's trip to Vegas runs a little more smoothly than it did a year ago, when the Hornets lost all five of their games and had their hotel shot up by a "local guy who snapped."
Fun.

I'm still angry that they traded away our draft pick. And it won't become any better by reading headlines about teams snapping away possible free agents.....!

Yeah I'm pissed... Even lowly Jarvis Hayes is being scooped up before we even get our shovel in the dirt. What are the Hornets doing? I understand that we missed out on Gette, but to miss out on Jarvis Hayes! to the NETS! that makes me hang my head in shame. tisk tisk... Peitrus is gone too! If we dont get our hands on at least Childress, Barry, or Posey I will be forced to write my congressman! This is a travesty!

I love that the T.P. has the game time wrong in the Sports section today also. Tipoff is at 5, not 4. I watched a bit of the Orlando Summer league the other day (before I got bored and realized i had better things to do than watch OKC's scrubs). It streamed pretty well. I didn't have any issues. (I love how I'm making fun of them when I got the time zone wrong on my own site last week and had to be corrected... I'm an East Coaster. Oops.)

I probably won't get to watch the games anyway. I'm leaving on a jet plane later today, don't know when I'll be back again. Oh wait, I'll be back next week, refreshed and revitalized.

from a bulls fan... i love ben gordon and want the bulls to keep him, but... think the hornets are looking at him? There's been almost no rumors about where the Bulls and he (and Deng) are in negotiations and whether they're talking to other teams. I know NO was rumored at one point... any clue?

Yeah the Hornets lost all games last season but if losing all 6 summer league games this summer will mean that we'll get AS far or further than last season, I'm for it. :) Dallas won all their summer league games last year. Didn't mean a damn thing. GEAUX HORNETS!

I watched most of the game painful as it was. Junior Hornets lose 88-75. Julianwent 4-17 from the field with a bunch of turnovers. Looked generally out of control. It looked as if they were trying to run the offense through him a lot of the time and he may havepushed it a little too hard. Hilton looked like Hilton even with this much lower level of competition, in which he should be a stud.I know this game means nothing butstill this doesn't help make me anyless nervous about the silence about any free agent moves. On top of that, the leading scorer of the night wasDarrell Arthur (18pts)...ouch.

Arthur should've had more points than that playing against that particular Hornets team. They sucked tonight. Maybe they'll do better on Sunday. I knew Arthur would have the game high and it would make Hornets fans go crazy. LMAO! I wonder if the fans of the other 12 teams that traded him are going crazy too. Summer league games suck. I'm ready for the real season.

Julian and Hilton need to be careful. Last year, Snyder was expected to show well in Summer League, and when he didn't, he was shipped out almost immediately.

I really think Julian Wright should be kept. =) Now, Hilton on the other hand, I'm not so sure. Snyder is an exception, though.

It's hard to say what it takes to make your summerleague team play good basketball (if it's possible). I think basically the scorer type of players can strike. It's easy for them to go one on one and to shoot. That's really not Julians game and Hiltons neither. It would be very unfair to judge them by their summerleague performances. I thought the same with Snyder two years ago, but he was traded right away. However, I hope both will show up today!

Well, the Hornets looked absolutely awful to begin with against the Grizzlies, but got better as a team as the game went on (even though Mayo's dunk on them is a top highlight.) The second game is on, and I still don't know who to be impressed with...Hilton especially, who didn't look very good at all.

I'm not really sure how the Hornets won that second game but they did. Not the best of games from either side, both lacking some scoring options. Hilton looked very poor, he was very disappointing.

I watched the whole game and actually thought hilton looked pretty good, everytime we posted him up we got some good results. Showed a variety of moves and got to the line multiple times (8) And it's not gonna show up on the scoredboard but many of our offensive boards was because hilton was getting up and tapping the ball up to one of our players. Usually they give thosetap outs credit for the offensive boardbut I guess the tap outs arent going to anyone in the summer games. So although on the stat sheet he didnt look like a stud on the boards he did get a few hustle tap outs that didnt go his way. And anytime he came out you could tell, we got killed on the glass when he left and another important stat is a i think only one time did his man get an offensive rebound which is pretty impressive showing he's doing a great job boxing out
