Hornets fan or not, here's 22 reasons to be cheerful on a Monday morning...
(Click image for a larger version.)
The ladies above were all selected to the Honeybee dance team at the House of Blues in the French Quarter yesterday, and will be responsible for the dancing and the cheering and the looking good on our way to the NBA Finals next season.
We should have more photos from the Honeybee Finals coming soon. For now I'll just say thanks to the legendary Matt McIntosh of Storm Surge Photography, to Brittany Cranston of the Hornets for her consistent fantasticness in helping us out, and to the House of Blues for doing such a great job hosting the event yesterday.
Leaving you with some bonus Honeybee linkage:

Legendary? No, more like lucky. Thanks for the kudo's though ;) And let me echo, and amplify, the awesomeness of Brittany who is, was, and always shall be, awesome beyond belief. And the House of Blues was incredible too. To say they both treated me better than I deserved would be an understatement. I am both honored and humbled.

according to a source of mine, the Hornets are close to completing a sign and trade with the Denver Nuggets which would bring back JR Smith. Byron and JR have reconciled over the years and the hornets feel he can be the sg of the future. He will bring much needed fire power off the bench . Look for the hornets to run small ball of the second unit and have Bowen and Ely at the end of the bench as big man insurance From im told Hornets will aqcuire Smith for Mike James and a future first round pick.

@ hornets insider: You could be Jeff Bower's mom for all I know so I won't doubt you completely. I'd love this deal just to offload James' contract, but JR Smith doesn't fit the "good character guy" mold that the Hornets have been adamant about their players fitting ever since they blew it all up a few years ago. I'd be very surprised if such a deal were to happen. I can't see what's in it for the Nuggets. They've been trying to shed salary but it doesn't sound like this trade would help them much with that.

actually this makes sense for the nuggets. They done lose JR for nothing. they get depth at their weakest position, they get a future first rounder and plus Mike James contract expires during the best FA period ever.

Good points. That makes more sense in my brain now.

Was it like a pageant? Where they paraded all the potentials and then picked the winners? Or did they just introduce them?

Like a loser, I won't cite my source, but I talked to someone this afternoon that told me the same thing (J.R. Smith). HoopsWorld reported it yesterday, and I kinda laughed at it. But he said the exact same trade scenario as well- James, 1st rounder. I'm thinking this might actually happen... and I can't decide whether I should be smiling or shuddering.

No, it was a competition. They introduced everyone individually. Then they paired off and each pair performed an identical routine together (let me tell you, after hearing the song they were dancing to 18 times, I was nearly done). After that, they went into groups of 4 and performed a separate dance which they were allowed to add a small piece they came up with themselves. When that was done, Free Agents played for about 20 minutes. When they raised the curtain again, Ashley Deaton and some equally attractive woman were on stage next to a table with roses and tshirts. Rob Nice was the EM and called out each Honeybee in no certain order. When they came out, Ashley gave them roses and a hug and the other gave them their tshirt and they lined up. There was much applause, cheering, hootin n hollerin and when it was over, there was much dancing on stage. It was fun, but it was tough standing in one spot for that long not being able to move.

People keep talking about the firepower and points off the bench from JR but how many points would his non-defensive playing ass give up? And since he's been playing for the Nuggets it's safe to say he still hasn't learned how to play defense. I remember Byron calling a timeout during one game and when JR was heading to the bench Byron looked like he wanted to punch the sh*t out of JR because he continually let his man burn him so I'd be very surprised if he ended up a Hornet again under Scott's watch.

@ Mo: That's all very true about JR's defense, but what our second unit really lacks is some offensive firepower, and JR can certainly provide that. Our bench was one of the best in the league defensively last season, so perhaps Scott and Bower feel that JR can bring more to the table with his offense than he can take away with his crappy defense. I can't imagine the Hornets seriously considering such a deal though unless we get Pargo back. If he bolts and we also trade away Mike James, who's going to back up CP?
