Here come the Lakers, all unbeaten and popular and talked about. Apparently they've got the best defense since the Great Wall and their bench alone would beat the Spurs in a seven-game series. (Although with all those injuries in San An, I'm pretty sure James Posey could do the same solo.)

Things to note from yesterday's game against the Mavs, watch for Trevor Ariza to play the spark off the bench, the combination of Pau and Odom (double team Odom, it leaves Gasol down low), and attack the basket.
Mavs imploded, settling for jump shots (much less bad shots) towards the end, leading to their demise. Jason Kidd looked out of place in the system, so we need a good game by CP to squeak this one by.

Nervous about this one. Hornets need to play more like the team that took the Spurs to 7, and less like the Saints.

Sure seems like some biased officiating. First 4 minutes Kobe should have had 2 fouls, but they can't have the NBA's star child on the bench, so they call the 2nd on the person he drags to the floor.
Continues and continues.
Add to that another poor shooting night and this one was over after the first few minutes.
If the Hornets can't find their mojo and quick, this is going to be a long season.

Funny you say biased officiating, Juncti. Game's hosting a rookie ref who apparently had some affiliation with the Lakers (played for/ lives in/ something) according to the Laker commentators.
Sorry to whomever has to recap this game. That hole we dug into early was just pitiful, and I wouldn't excuse it to Laker dominance. Time to (re)wipe the slate clean, and regain composure. This is not the team with the chip on the shoulder entering last season. I'm not counting us out at the least, but the way we've been playing, win or lose, is just incoherent. Not the Chaos mW was advocating, but chaos nonetheless. 29.4% on treys, 16 TO, 16 assists, and DX... brother, where art thou?
AND I got a paper to write? This day can't end soon enough.

Me and David West are not speaking.
That is all. 6 motherf-ing turnovers. Which, for the record, was 3 less than the entire Lakers TEAM. Combined. And honestly, I think the stat counters missed one or two.

This loss depresses me. I have no problem with the officiating tonight. The Lakers are just on a different level. The final score might suggest otherwise, but I consider this game a blowout.

Go watch the first quarter again, the officials did what they did to us last year. Hurt us early, get us in foul trouble, and get our starters out the game. We didn't get back into it until the officials allowed us to play. It's like that 30 point blowout to 3 point loss from the end of the season.
1st quarter. Over the back on Chandler, not called. Kobe pulls Peterson to the floor, foul on Peterson (instead of Kobe's 2nd). Chris Paul drives the lane, practically closelined by the bigs, no call, Tech on CP3.
They already had 2 fouls, those would of put them in penalty about 6 minutes into the 1st quarter. Changes the game remarkably.
Forcing our stars to the bench in foul trouble, putting our bench against the Lakers starters, sorry, nothing can be expected but a blowout. Except for Posey and maybe Butler, our bench won't take their starters. Armstrong was getting punked left and right, James looked like a lost kid who forgot how to dribble.
Peja being ice cold early leaves us in trouble too, add to that West not hitting, Peterson not hitting, we're just screwed. Refs or not, but the refs never seem to hurt the Lakers.
Call it like I see it, if we don't get a fire going we're not going to make it far. We need to come out swinging, instead we're cowering in the corner.

Another call that pissed me off was when CP got BOGUS charge because Fisher couldn't keep up with him and flopped to the floor. THat should've been and 1 but instead a off foul. Even LA announcers said that was wrong call. Refs are biased. I totally believe it. How the hell do you change the way you call the game from one half to another? First they grabbed pulled pushed sandwiched CP and got away with it, but at the end he was getting touch fouls in his favor? BS I can't stand the way these refs control this game.
