Where y'all at? Mikey here with your holiday guest recap as the Hornets beat the Indiana Pacers. Before I break it down bullet-style, let me first say that the Pacers did a few things tonight that impressed me. As Chris Paul said in his post-game comments, Indy is a better team than many people give them credit for. They rebound well, and they play with high energy. Youth, lack of experience, and a little bit of indiscipline has probably cost them 6 or 7 games this season, to include this one. They are going to be a tough team to beat in the eastern conference in the near future. Now to the comments.
- Starting lineup included Peja for the 1st time since a win in Toronto six games ago. Welcome back big fella, and you knock down two treys; Lovin' IT! He didn't shoot great, but he was active on the boards, and even had two put-backs. Nice contribution.
- That Danny Granger guy is pretty good. 34 Points, 5 boards, and a couple of assists for the Grace King Grad. What can I say? We know how to grow 'em here. He has the full arsenal of shots. He had better be an all-star.
- The Hornets got 2 fouls on Roy Hibbert early in the game, but Jim O'Brien kept him on the floor. Good move Jimmy, he was beating Chandler to spots for rebounds, and scoring with regularity before he got his 5th foul. This is the best you'll see him play all season. You heard it here first.
- Speaking of Chandler, I thought he might get going vis-a-vis Houston with that quick alley oop. Nope, two quick whistles and its time to ride some pine again. This is my sad face. With that said, he came back to finish with 8pts and 6 boards. A solid game given his limited minutes, not a great game by any means, but solid.
- Thought I'd mention that Sean Marks hit a shot, then took it upon himself to continue to shoot. I think I threw up in my mouth a little. Only 4 minutes in this game for Marks, probably the most positive number I can give for him.
- The Hornets got destroyed on the boards tonight, but offensive rebounds were even. The Pacers are the 2nd leading rebounding team in the League, but thats no excuse to be out-rebounded by 9. That needs to be cleaned up.
- At about the 7 Minute mark in the 3rd Quarter, the Hornets Defense decided to show up. I guess the bus was locked, and the D couldn't get out.
- Rasual Butler continues his steady play. You can just tell the guy is playing with a high degree of confidence. 15pts on 6-11 shooting, and throw a couple steals and rebounds in there, now THATS good gumbo!
- Bench scoring: 33-18 in the Hornets' favor. That is a positive sign. Make no mistake about it, that is the influence of Antonio Daniels. He had 6pts and 2 dimes, Me Likey!
- Indiana shot 9-12 from three. That's insane!!!
- I was almost glad Hilton got that Technical for defending Chris Paul from Troy Murphy's giant nose. That's probably the toughest thing he's ever done, ever.
- Chris Paul and James Posey just took over the 4th quarter. They had 21 points between them. I'm loving the Posey Post-ups. He's got two good moves from down there and looks pretty comfortable. I'd like to see Posey peel the onion skin back a little, and learn how to make a nice, crisp pass out of the post.
- How spoiled am I? I only mentioned Chris Paul's name once in this recap after that 4th quarter he had, well twice now.
- In the end, it was D-Weezy that nailed the game-winner. He is good for one or two of those every year, so clutch. He finished with a workman-like double double.
Many thanks to Ryan and Niall for allowing me to hold down the fort until the Irishman's return. Hey, there was a Dick Harter sighting tonight! 100 thousand bazillion points to the one who can tell me his significance in Hornets history. Now, let's take care of business against the Wizards on Tuesday. The schedule gets pretty tough after that.

I think you're right, Apple.
Nice job on the recap, Mikey. Sound for handling that. Glad you got to recap a win, too.
Apologies that I didn't get a "Game On" post up yesterday. I was hoping to do it at a freind's house but their internet connection was down. That seems to happen a lot in Ireland.
Back in New Orleans Tuesday night! Giggidy.

My favorite stat of the night: Peja Stojakovic, Antonio Daniels, and Hilton Armstrong were all on our lovely active list. Peja had 8 boards! That's more insane than the 75% 3pt shooting by the Pacers to me. And more Posey posting up please! I like how he can use both hands.
Worst stat of the night: Morris Peterson - DNP Coach's Decision.
I must say though, that Devin Brown guy we all hate on so much had himself a decent game. Probably because he didn't attempt any threes!

@ StefanC, you know, every now and then, by virture of being almost seven feet tall, Peja gets himself a bunch of rebounds.
I too, am worried about the lack of MoPete playing time. Crazy. Obviously, Brown and Marks were limited, so Byrons' getting comfortable with a certain rotation without needing to throw those guys in, but I find it hard to believe that any rotation would not include Mo.

Miss Apple wins 100 thousand bazillion points. I was going to mention Mo's DNP/CD, but I didn't want to put a damper on the victory.
Posey's jump-hook out of the post is a nice shot that he looks comfortable with taking. He also has a good drop-step move. It appeared as if we looked for that mismatch every time the Pacers switched Jarret Jack or Brandon Rush onto him.
I didn't mention this in the recap either, but Hilton Armstrong did not have a turnover last night. That's twice in three games! His streak is back alive at one game in a row without a TO. He still got abused by Roy Hibbert on the glass, but not a bad night for Hilton. I'd actually like to see Hilton work on those 15-17 foot jumpers. His shot doesn't look that bad, and with some reps, I bet he could hit that shot on a nightly basis. If he was any kind of a threat from that range, it would also open up his inside game a little.

Good Recap Mikey. I wish I could have seen the incident with Hilton. I only saw a little bit and was out of the room when they showed the replay. Its good to get mad once in a while - although costly. The Pacers remind me a little of the Thunder. (although I think better). There is a good team in there - like Mikey says - locked in the bus. The way those Pacers shot those threes was just incredible. If no one messes with that team via trades they are going to own some championships. The basketball gods were with the Hornets and David West when he shot that final shot. If there had been .1 more second on the shot clock the Pacers probably would have been able to get another 3 down. Geeeezzzz.
Safe travel Niall.
Thanks Mikey.

Good win for us. Playing at Indy is not a gimme this year, so we have to be proud of how we fought back from poor defense and rebounding and got the win. Next up..revenge against the Bullets, er Wizards.
As for the game, one word..PEJA! How nice was it to see Peja hit those wide open 3s?! All I could think about was that if Peja wasn't playing, that would have been Devin Brown standing there taking that shot. Thank god.
I also loved the defensive intensity that we displayed in the 2nd half. I think that our guys get into the game better when we play good defense.
I don't get why MoPete didnt get in the game though. Our second unit should be Daniels, Peterson, Brown/Wright, Posey, Armstrong. Not Marks.

@HornetsMan: Fear not these crazy reserve rotations, for the coffee is brewing. We are all just waiting for Byron & co. to wake up and smell it. And hey, the Hornets have now done something that neither the Lakers nor Celtics could do, beat the Pacers in regulation at Conseco Field House!
Quick crazy stat: The Hornets are undefeated when Antonio Daniels plays.

big win for us. the stretch coming up his brutal. if we are to advance far this year, this is the team to do it. depending on the offseason is when we should see what changes need to be made. we know that regardless, there will be at least a handful of new players next year. daniels health is a big key as he is another floor general and the person responsible for cp3 getting a rest and be energized for the postseason. it was good to see peja come back. peja just about make devin a spectator. all we need is for juju to break out and mopete to start getting more playing time. wake up byron.
