The Hornets played the Bobcats in Greensboro, NC this evening, losing 101-108 and falling to 0-2 in the preseason.
I didn't see the game, caught the end on the radio broadcast. Some quick notes:
- The Hornets feel behind by 21 points in the first half, but rallied back to tie it in the second half and made the Bobcats sweat down the stretch.
- Chris Paul: 24 points, 6 assists in 24 minutes.
- No DNP's for the rookies tonight, with 24 and 28 minutes for Collison and Thornton respectively. Collison shot 4-of-13 for 12 points while dishing 6 assists. Thornton shot 7-of-14 from the field for 19 points.
- Julian Wright had a nice all around game in the preseason opener yesterday, but seemingly struggled in this one: 2 points (1-of-6 FGs), 4 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 turnovers, 4 fouls in 24 minutes.
- No drama: Tyson Chandler and Emeka Okafor both sat out, nursing minor injuries. Also out for the Hornets: Armstrong, Diogu and Stojakovic. I'm assuming Peja is fine, just taking a night off.
- Morris Peterson: 4-of-7 from deep.
- The teams combined for 95 free-throw attempts and 77 personal fouls. That's a lot.
If anyone was able to see the game or caught more of the radio broadcast, let me know what I missed via the comments.
UPDATE: Video highlights from NBA.com:

I watched pretty much all of the game and came away pretty impressed for the most part, here are some stuff i noticed
West was disinterested in the beginning, some lazy passes and stuff like that, but picked it up later in the game
Wright was pretty much a non-factor offensively, you couldnt really tell if he was there or not which was a bad thing
Earl Barron should not make the team
On the bench, both thornton and collison impressed me a whole bunch. Thornton got comfortable and outplayed gerald henderson immensely, driving or cutting to the rim, or spotting up for a 3 he was everywhere. And collison made sure to find him, not looking for his own shot but trying to set up everyone. Had a few bad turnovers where he did a jump pass and got caught up in the air, but besides that he was good at controlling the tempo. He also played pretty good defense on augustin, he just had a hard time adjusting to screens. The box score really doesnt tell the entire story for collisons game
The refs were horrible, way too many fouls for both teams and the 4th quarter was a mess because of it.

Thanks for the report, Joe. I heard Gerry V on the radio mention that Collison was having a hard time fighting through screens. He's not the beefiest guy in the world, so methinks he'll take some physical beatings this season.
