Fresh of their disappointing loss to the Raptors on Friday, the Hornets are in Los Angeles tonight to take on the defending champion Lakers. Game tips at 8:30 p.m. Central.
Andrew Bynum and Pau Gasol are both injured and will sit this one out, but the Lakers did just fine without their star bigs on Friday, blowing out the Grizzlies to improve to 5-1 on the season.
Kobe Bryant has been on a tear, averaging 34.5ppg so far this season, including 41 in three of his last four games. He may be in for trouble tonight though, with the mighty Devin Brown due to start at shooting guard for the Hornets.

Niall: here's a suggestion for your next video clip. Why and how Hilton Armstrong is always in the wrong position on the floor, which is why he can't get any boards.
I've tried to defend him, but he really, really just doesn't seem to get it. I can't wait for Marks to get back.

Who becomes inactive when Diogu is ready? Armstrong? I guess West could play some 5 and I know Songalia also has in the past. I don't recall Diogu ever playing at the 5 but that's not to say he couldn't.

Defense hasnt looked terrible. I think we're doubling way too much and that gave Shannon Brown some open looks, but offense is by far the bigger problem right now. Free Buckets. Let's see what he can do.

Can't watch the game, thankfully. Until we get rid of some of these outstanding contracts (Posey, Predrag, Pete), I don't think we're going to do much damage at this rate.

Right, LSU? Free Thornton AND Collison! Thornton's rate for 2 minutes has been 2 points, so give him 48 minutes and he's good for 48 points. (28.8 for Collison)
Relay this information to coach Scott STAT.

it was nice to see hornets other than cp3 move with quickness and purpose. obviously it was a blowout and they were in against laker scrubs, but still a good showing.
also- i love juju, but that alley oop was the craziest thing i've seen in a while.

I dont care if it was against the Lakers second unit play those f@&%#* ROOKIES!!! After this game there should be no doubt. DEVIN BROWN?!? Where was Chris Paul? Does any one know why hes gettin such limited minutes? I know they dont want him to play as many minutes as last season but he's out half way through the 1st quarter?

yea byron has been doin that all year thus far.. he'll take chris out at like the 6 min. mark of the first quar. and then he'll put him back in at like the 10:00 min of the second.

The trend continues! With ~6 minutes, Thornton produces 8 points and Collison 6!
Second unit in a futile game, admittedly, but better than the rest of our squad. I can only imagine coach Scott: "The rookies will be inactivated for the remainder of the season due to rookie mistakes during practice."

Thanks for holding down the comments, everyone. Another poor showing tonight, but I'll hang on to the great energy and impressive play by the rookies in garbage time. I would have liked to see them play the entire fourth quarter. This one was over before halftime.

Regarding Thornton, this from Yahoo! Sports Team Report:
Scott called Thornton, who averaged 12 points in the preseason, the Hornets' most talented shooting guard.
"I just wish he was 6-foot-7," Scott said of Thornton, who's listed as 6-4.

@ JChangNZ: as opposed to the 6'2" BB6? Or 6'5" DB23? I'll take Thornton any day. Plus, he's got 30 pounds on Bobby, and the same as Devin. Only he can make baskets. And defend.

regarding cp's substitutions- i get league pass and every opposing team's announcers wonder if cp3 is hurt or sick when he comes out so early in the 1st. not even looking seriously at how stupid it is strategically, its usually a bad sign when the dopes that broadcast theses games are making sense.

I don't mind Chris coming out mid-way through the first quarter. I think it's a better strategy than having him play all Q1 and then sitting him at the start of Q2. The new way helps the Hornets get off to a stronger start in the second quarter and not fall behind before halftime. Or at least that's the theory; no that it's been working much.

it makes no sense to take our best player out before any other subs are made. are wade, lebron, kobe, melo, etc the first subs made in a game? let him play 8-10 min in the first, then let him sit until the 9 minute tv timeout at the earliest.
