Despite a sensational 26-point effort from Peja Stojakovic, the Boston Celtics defeated the New Orleans Hornets 97-87 on Sunday night at the TD Garden.
Stojakovic came off the bench and delivered six 3-pointers, but Paul Pierce’s game-high 27 points carried the Celtics. After the game, Chris Paul and Boston’s Rajon Rondo exchanged words and had to be separated by a security guard. Earlier in the game, they were both assessed double technical fouls. Despite a slow start, Paul finished with 22 points. The Hornets have lost two of their first three games, while the Celtics improved to 4-0.
