The Hornets trailed by 10 points at halftime, but they outscored the Bobcats 61-46 in the second half. After the score was tied at 83 in the fourth quarter, New Orleans went on a 17-5 to run to take a 100-88 lead with 4:20 remaining.
Clutch shooting came from guard Morris Peterson, who made both of his 3-pointers in the fourth quarter and finished with eight points. Forward James Posey came off the bench and had several deflections and scored five of his 11 points in the fourth.
"It was a great way to finish the game off, because we made some big shots down the stretch, " Hornets Coach Jeff Bower said. "We made some good stops, and we were able to get possessions with some good hard-fought rebounds. It was a victory that we had to earn."
