New Orleans Hornets confident Chris Paul will play here this season

At his charity golf tournament earlier this month at English Turn Country Club, Paul said he wants to win now not later. He also urged the Hornets to become active in free agency, but three weeks have passed since players could begin signing free-agent contracts and the Hornets only signee is returning backup center Aaron Gray.

Demps made assurances Monday that the team does not plan to stand pat, despite there being no immediate-impact free agents remaining on the market.

l think you have to put together a plan and the process, Demps said. Chris is a smart guy. He understands whats going on.

Theres always ways to be creative. Im an optimist. I think we well sit down and evaluate the roster and look at all our pieces and move forward and do whats in the best interests of the organization.

Despite trade speculation, Paul has remained quiet until Mondays statement.
