Niall- Why did you write that the Hornets and international players don't mix? Is there some history within the organization? One thing I love about the NBA/ basketball is that it is the second world sport after soccer, and we can watch players from six continents. This is a question of curiosity. #

Great breakdown...overall, it seems fair to say that Okafor's production somewhat warrants his salary when you compare him to other position players. I am sure we could all dream of better ways to spend that amount of cash on the Hornets, but it is obvious that big men don't come cheap. His consistency will become even more of a commodity when other issues are addressed the next couple of years. #

Can anyone explain to me how the expiring contract works under the rules of the NBA? I have heard time and time again that Mo Pete and Peja will be more valuable at the trade deadline of next year, so it seems to me that we will basically have the same team next year (minus some scrubs and with a couple of extra rookies) until the trade deadline of next year. If this is all correct then we should all be looking forward to 2011 because that is when we will have real money to spend. Am I correct?
Also, I thought Peja had a player option to extend his contract for one more year...
Finally, with regards to Okafor, is there any way for 24-7 to run a comparison or a analysis that focuses on the production/ salaries of the top starting centers in the league. I would like to know how Okafor compares in production and costs to the other centers in the NBA. For once on this site we all agree on something, but I am curious as to how overpaid Okafor actually is. #

@ Young Fella- I don't think Omeka was a panic trade. I think the organization really tried to find a missing piece when they acquired him. For whatever reason I just don't think his game meshes with the game of D West thus compromising our interior. It is never a perfect science. It must also be mentioned that the defense of West has dropped off tremendously this year affecting this issue, and Bower has also made a mess of many games with questionable/ ridiculous coaching decisions. I think the issue with Omeka is much bigger than a panic trade, but I totally agree with your idea that a patient approach is most often the more reliable path to success. Three huge expiring contracts would be really nice next year, but I will take Omeka and two for the time being. #

I didn't watch the game last night and I don't really have high expectations for our future with big sloppy, but I will forever be grateful for his performance against D Howard and the fact that we a have a strong/ large presence in the paint. I will enjoy his time here, and I hope he gets some more minutes to see if a future is possible. #
